Interview with Sister Bliss from Faithless - TNT Australia & New .

Ever since Insomnia took the earth by storm way back in 1995, dance trio Faithless, comprising DJ Sister Bliss, MC Maxi and producer Rollo, have been one of the biggest acts on the planet. Theyre about to fly Down Below to headline the Good Vibrations festival, so we called Sister Bliss, also one of the worlds top female DJs in her own right...

So, excited about Good Vibes?
Ah of course.

Its release to be the heart of our bitter winter and its good passing to be the most marvellous thing to follow and relish the sun and of form the amazing crowds. Its colder in Manchester right now than youll always be in Oz. We make it so you dont get to! Also, its the start time weve played Good Vibes, but the lineups amazing and were headlining so it all bodes well. Good music, good weather and good vibrations all round.

The touring festivals must be big fun, travelling Oz with the former acts?
Yeah, I loved it the final time [I played Summerdayz] and I was hanging out with Swedish House Mafia. They kept getting kicked out of hotels so I had to act I wasnt actually with them so I didnt get tarred with the same rebellious brush!

What were they up to?
You know, partying hard, being spicy in the bar, Perth particularly I remember. It was brilliant fun. I find theres a global dance community, theres people like me who started back in the day and theres young guns coming through. Theres only this energy, that were all there for the like reason, we need to hold great music and have people dance the man over and apply them something special to remember. Its a somewhat different vibe from pop music I think. A lot of older DJs are most like patrons to younger ones.

Even though the elderly generation wont stop raving! They even read the younger ones how its done.

Are the new guns in awe of you?
Ha, so far nobodys fallen over in a feint! Its form of a common respect. Its an equal playing field, it only takes one great strain to get a breakthrough.

Are you ever like, Ah, I cant be bothered to play Insomnia tonight?
Never. Weve got six albums of stuff to go through so I never look like Im stuck. But truly these are the tracks that put us on the map. Theres no way we could do a gig and not play Insomnia. Number one it opened up the doors to the remainder of my life. That track enabled us to put the residue of the banding together. I find that call was a complete blessing, people wait all their lives to get a hit as big as that. It did sort of get us because it came very early on and we still felt like we were this little underground house act. Insomnia went ballistic pretty much everywhere. It opened the doors for us to go all over the globe and do more albums and to experimentation and be ourselves.

Does it look like 15 years has flown by or gone slow?
Bloody hell, it did when I had a hangover yesterday, it felt more like 100 years! I feel it it really difficult to beat time. I yet remember those very early days, when we sold 16 albums a week and wed be like, thats amazing, who are they!

Are you a bit calmer on tour nowadays?
Yeah, but Im pretty chilled anyway. Were not all in our 20s, plus Ive got a son.

Youve got some time between the shows. Will you see lots of Oz?
I know, its release to be fantastic. Ive got home in Melbourne so Ill probably chill out and see them, in Adelaide as well. So I might take years off to fall out with my folks as I dont see them nearly enough. And of course eating the finest seafood known to man, its always the better in Oz. I maybe chilling out on a brace of beaches, maybe Clovelly in Sydney and several other places Ive got a soft spot for. Once were concluded there with you guys the public will look like our oyster.

Faithless headline Good Vibrations, which visits Sydney (Feb12), Melbourne (Feb 13), Gold Coast (Feb 19) and Perth (Feb 20).For tix, see www.goodvibrationsfestival.com.au
